I am Xiomara (See-oh-ma-ra), but people call me Xio. I am a mum of two children, and we are navigating the early years after the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis of my eldest child.

I realised that I needed to know more about autism, so I could understand what my eldest needed. I also needed to understand the reasons behind decisions made by other professionals. At the beginning, I did not know where to start. I started reading books, but some books were too "technical" and did not give me any helpful information. This is why decided to start a Master's degree in Autism and Neurodivergent studies, and share what I am learning here.

I hope that these resources help you find clarity, and with that, you can find more confidence on your journey as a parent of a newly diagnosed child. Recently, someone told me that “if we know better, we do better", and that phrase has stuck with me, and it became the mission for what I want to achieve here.

Thank you for joining me in this journey. This is meant to be a journey walked in company, and I hope that’s how you feel when you come here. I acknowledge that every one of us experiences autism in different ways. I will do my best to cover all areas, but if I am lacking and I will, I welcome feedback and more information.

Let’s walk together!

Thank you again for being here.
